The importance of condition is vital when determining the value of a stamp.
There is a rule of thumb.
Superb used. perfect un pulled full perfs and well centred with a fine cds type cancel
Very fine used. lightly cancelled good cantering and full perfs.
Fine used. moderate to light cancel good centering and good perfs, odd pulled or short perf.
Good used. heaveyish to moderate cancel average centering and odd pulled perfs.
Used. heavy cancel poor perfs and off centre.
Space filler. torn, thinned, washed, creased totally obliterated with a very heavy cancel and perfs pulled badly. These have no value other than to fill a temporary gap in your collection.
Un mounted mint. full original gum and not hinged with the gum fresh and not toned.
Light mounted mint. mounted with a stamp hinge and mounted once only.
Mounted mint. mounted more than once, but with little or no gum loss.
Moderate mounted mint. mounted more than once, with gum loss or heavy build up of hinge remains.
heavy mounted. stamp that has been mounted more than once with major disturbance of the stamp. Distorted stamp shape, gum loss etc. These stamps are normally classed as space fillers.
The further you go down the list of conditions the less he stamps are worth.
