GREAT BRITAIN KING EDWARD VII KEVII STAMPS
Great Britain Stamps King Edward VII KEVII
22nd January 1901-6th May 1910.
There were 3 different printers used for the printing of these stamps.
1st. De La Rue from Sg 215 to Sg 216 ½d to £1 all perf 14 but with 2 paper types ordinary and chalk surfaced. Ordinary was dull to look at in good light, and the chalk paper had a shine, shiney and gkazed in apperence. And reflected the light.
2nd was Harrison & sons from Sg 267 to 286 ½d to 4d on ordinary paper. perfs 14 and 15.
3rd was Somerset House Sg 287 to Sg 320 ½d to £1 perf 14 on ordinary paper. except Sg 301 which had Dickinson coated paper.
All 3 printings had many shades which are very difficult to identify. Again these stamps are prone to the printing ink running and washing when being soaked off paper. There stamps were based on the Queen Victoria Jubilee issues. Inverted watermarks are very rare.
A more detaied catalogue is available from Stanley Gibbons. The kings specialised catalogue.
